Welcome to Invite Only!
The idea for "Invite Only" came about after college, when all of the easy dorm room chats and "late nights" vanished when leaving College Park (Go Terps!). However, in your 20s, fun with friends doesn't stop but gets more difficult to coordinate amongst friends with busy professional, academic and personal lives. However, getting with friends-family should not fall by the wayside while pursuing personal goals and endeavors. Thus, the reason for the social clique - Invite Only.
After multiple random birthday and bbq get togethers, in late 2007, I attended a "family dinner" planned by a friend of my sister's in NY. These "Family Dinners" brought food and urban professionals living in and around the City together. The premise was to bring back the idea of coming together with friends and family over food. Although I attended the event to network and meet others for professional purposes, the evening turned out to be less about networking and more about getting to know others personally. I walked away from the dinner having met sixty potential new friends, who were nice, welcoming and accomplished. After that night, I decided I wanted to bring that familial atmosphere to DC.
Thus, "Invite Only" premieres now in 2010, and will go on as long as we have people who want to have a good time, meet new friends and catch up with the old friends, all over food! Invite Only will host the following types of events:
1. Family Dinners (Every Couple of Months)
2. Smaller Events like Movies, Happy Hours
3. Group VACATIONS!!
So please stay tuned to this blog. The calendar of events and details will be posted. Also feel free to make suggestions of great places to eat, fun things to do, and places to go! Please be sure to contact us at i.invite.only@gmail.com.
Lastly, please do the following as a person who has been invited:
a. Understand the premise of the family atmosphere - no drinkin' hatorade
b. Invite your friends, and those who will not only add to the family but will be in FULL compliance with the aforementioned (please see letter a)
c. Enjoy yourself and let us know what's good, bad and ugly!
